Does your painting business need a blog?

Ever feel like you want to get more involved in the online community? You may be wondering, what’s the point?  Why bother?

Well, not only is blogging a great way to connect to others in the industry but it’s a way to establish yourself as an “authority” in painting in a few different ways:

  1. Prospective customers searching for you online will feel more comfortable if they know whom their dealing with.  If you can establish yourself as an expert in the painting field through a blog, that gets your prospective customer one step closer to booking with you and not the other guy.
  2. Blogging makes your website rank higher in Google.  Now, we’ll start with a disclaimer: the science of raising your page rank in Google, (known as search engine optimization) is pretty complex.  Your best bet is to consult an expert.  Here’s the simplified version: If Painting Company A and Painting Company B both create a website but let’s say Painting Company A also regularly publishes great content to their blog while Painting Company B doesn’t publish anything, through the magic of Google, Painting Company A is more likely to appear higher in the page rank than its competitor.
  3. Are you suffering from lone ranger syndrome?  Everyone works hard to build their business, their identity, and their brand, but have you taken a step back and opened yourself up to the community?  Being at the helm wears on the best of us which is why sharing your experiences with those who can relate is so important.  Blogging can be a cathartic release for those crazy customer stories you’ve acquired over the years and it’s a great way to be involved in something bigger than yourself.
